Greetings,
As recently announced, Catalyst is working on TRO:3085. The TRO will include some wonderful surprises, most of which you’ll have to wait to see. But as our loyal BattleCorps subscribers we do want to share with you one of those surprises. Even better we want to invite you all to help us with that surprise.
We will be featuring a section called "Old is the New, New." The ONN, will emulate the SLDF Royal units section of TRO 3075. The overview section will be an in universe review of how the various factions continued to leverage all available resources in their fight with the Word of Blake. The ONN will have two sections; the first is a review of field upgrades of older designs (primarily pre 3060). The second section will showcase modifications to conventional vehicles that allowed them to be more effective in the brutal combat of the Jihad.
As a thank you to the loyal BattleCorps subscribers we are inviting you to submit ideas to the ONN section. Yes, that’s right folks, you get a chance to finally put a C3 on that Schrek or make an insanely hot Heavy PPC Rifleman. Of course there are some rules, so read on.
The submission window will be open until 9PM Pacific time on Friday, April 23rd.

THE RULES
- You may submit up to five designs for section 1 and two designs for section 2, following the guidelines below.
- All designs must be sent by email to: Welshman.bc@gmail.com
- Designs must follow the Construction Rules listed below.
- Format of submissions should follow the following format:
Name of Unit : <What unit is this variant based on>
Changes: <List what is swapped for what, what is added, what is removed. Include the point cost for each change>
- If you used Heavy Metal or Skunkwerks, include those files as well. (But you must submit the design as plain text in email.)
- Include your full name and BattleCorps Handle. We cannot promise that your name will be mentioned in the book, but we will post here in the forums the names of those who’s designs are selected.
- Designs for section one: These may feature any Total Warfare or TacOps Advanced Rules equipment. Be aware that only a few Advanced Tech units will be featured, so you probably don’t want to submit all Advanced designs. Designs can only be chosen from the list of units in this attachment. (What’s that? Why yes that list looks a lot like the units in the BattleCorps regiment. What a coincidence.)
Battle Armor doesn’t fit into the rules below. If you choose to modify one of the ones listed below, they will be judged on a case by case basis. If it’s too munchy it will be tossed out.
- Designs for section two: This section show cases conventional vehicles that have been modified to better fight the Words tactics (NBC warfare, C3i coordinated attacks). All upgrades must feature one or two of the following: Environmental sealing, C3 Slave or Master, ECM suite)

Customization Pool Points
Each person submitting an ONN has 8 customization points which can be spent to modify an existing base design into a new variant; not all 8 points must be spent, but regardless of how many points are spent, the design must still adhere to the standard TW/TO construction rules.
The point cost of each customization is shown in the Customization Cost Table and must be spent for each upgrade undertaken; all effects are cumulative.
Note: After all customizations outlined below, any leftover tonnage can be used to add armor, ammunition and/or heat sinks (the final design must still adhere to the standard construction rules, as stated above).

Upgrade IS Tech Level 2 armor, structure, gyro, ****pit systems, myomers or heat sinks to either IS Advanced (3), IS Experimental (4) or Clan Standard Tech Level (C-2). For Clan Technology base, upgrade a Level 2 (Clan) to a Level 3 or 4 (Clan)
1 pt- CASE Upgrade
Add CASE to any legal location (eg. IS 'Mechs may only have CASE in torso locations). The 'Mech may be of any tech level and/or tech base.
4 pts- Weapon Upgrade 1
Upgrade one or two Level 1 weapons to Level 2 in the same Tech Base.
4 pts- Weapon Upgrade 2
Upgrade one Level 2 (IS) weapon to Level 2 (Clan) or Level 3 Advanced or 4 Experimental (IS). For Clan Technology base, upgrade a Level 1 or 2 (Clan) to a Level 3 or 4 (Clan)
2 pts- Melee Weapon Upgrade 1
Add one melee Tech Level 1 or 2 weapon
3 pts- Melee Weapon Upgrade 2
Add one Level 3 or 4 melee weapon
