Herotitus Government Still in Crisis

Carver Assassination Still a Mystery
[27 December 3070; ISAP] The situation on Herotitus in the Periphery has not changed since the assassination of President Allison Carver. No group or individual has yet come forward to claim responsibility for the death of President Carver, but that has not stopped both political parties on Herotitus from blaming each other as they’re vying for control of the government.
Commentators in the planetary media have named at differing times both the New Hedonists and the Social Conservatives as the murderers of President Carver. Along with those rumors come baseless accusations against everyone from the Inner Sphere Successor States to even the Clans and the Word of Blake. With no clear leader in power, the planetary government has begun to slowly grind to a halt while it searches for someone able to make the necessary decisions to keep it running.
Investigators from the capital police force have not yet been able to find any leads on the President’s assassin, nor any motive beyond the obvious. A spokesman today announced that they were still collecting forensic evidence and researching all possible likelihoods, but that “…at this point, progress is pretty much at a standstill until something else breaks loose in the case.”
Debates have been raging hotly through the hall of government, but so far the political violence has not escalated into social or military violence. One can only wonder, however, how long peace can hold out amongst so much conflict. An escalation seems very likely.
