Official: Princess-Regent, Draconis March Lord ‘Alive and In Command’ from Secure Location
[20 February 3070; NSNS] A statement was released by our AFFS liaison officer here on New Syrtis today confirming the safety of Princess-Regent Yvonne Steiner-Davion and Duke Tancred Sandoval. Reading from a prepared statement, Leftenant Colonel Heidi Trachtenberg offered the following remarks.
“The Armed Forces of the Federated Suns can confirm a clear and direct chain of communication with the Princess-Regent and her consort, Duke Tancred Sadoval of the Draconis March, and that they are alive and in command. Although enemy forces remain on New Avalon, the Princess-Regent does not. We will not, of course, reveal her location, but be advised that she is healthy and cognizant of her duties to the state. Orders flow from her location as necessary, and our own communications ensure she remains knowledgeable about the fight against the Word of Blake.”
Rumors abound about the location of Steiner-Davion, with speculation running the gamut from secret compartments aboard the ComStar WarShip Invisible Truth to a secret bunker on New Avalon itself. The Sandoval clan on Robinson confirms that they are not resident in the palace in Bueller, and no concrete observances have been made anywhere in Suns space since the first Word of Blake attacks on New Avalon just after the dissolution of the Second Star League. Logic would suggest the Princess-Regent is on one of the worlds between the Word of Blake Protectorate and New Avalon, we will not speculate as to which world that might be. Given the attacks on Tharkad and New Avalon, and the continuing silence of Luthien, the Word’s attitude toward our rulers is obvious. We cannot afford to increase the danger our Princess-Regent lives in.
