Solaris Triumphant, Blakists in Retreat
Добавлено: 16 июн 2009, 11:49[27 June 3071; FSN] Although it seemed as though they were gone, the Solaris Home Defense League erupted from the Reaches last month in a coordinated assault that has finally driven the Word of Blake out of Solaris City and reclaimed it for Solarans.
The turning point, everyone agrees, was the SHDL’s capture of the International District and the BattleMechs cached there. The renewed strength allowed the gladiators to drive the Blakists out of the city, although they couldn’t prevent the Word from using DropShips to all-but-destroy the Montenegro district. The rest of the city suffered horrendous damage, as well, but talks are already in place to get the Games back into operation.
Erik Gray has thus-far refused any offers of a Championship bout, but only because he remains in the field against the Blakists. A number of the SHDL gladiators have dropped out of the regular fighting to get back into the arenas. The Open-class arenas are still closed but numerous Class-Two and –Three arenas are opening already as the City’s denizens attempt to get back into the swing of things.
Many Solarans outside the City feel these actions are premature. With the Word of Blake still mobile and fighting—as the vicious skirmish near Xolara three days ago demonstrated—there remains a grave threat to Solaris.
