Widowmakers Fail Again

[3 March 3071; Voice of the Free] It gives us a certain satisfaction to report that the mercenaries hired by the Word of Blake are idiots. We should know—we’re the best, after all. And they’re most certainly not.
On Remus, Wannamaker’s Widowmakers continue to pick over the blasted remains of the Word of Blake’s handiwork, and we continue to pick at them. Just two weeks ago a force of Dragoons raided the salvage area of a detachment of Widowmakers. They were trying to salvage a Blackwell computer core that had survived the Blakist bombardments. They had a pretty good idea of where it was, so we let them dig it out.
Then we stole it. And a ’Mech, to boot.
Whatever their sins the Word of Blake makes good BattleMechs, and we took a shiny new Blue Flame from them. It rides pretty good, and shoots at them as easily as it shot at us. But here’s the kicker—we took the ’Mech first. Then, while they were running around trying to recapture an asset we didn’t care about, we just sort of waltzed in and grabbed the core.
Idiots. It’s kind of embarrassing, really, to know how imbecilic they are and yet they’re still here. Maybe we should put a bit more effort into this…
