Rhamses vs Parkinson
[SNN] It was on this day in 3003 that the last battle between rivals Henry Rhamses and Paula Parkinson was fought on Solaris VII in the Mosh Pit arena outside Xolara. The rivalry between the two gladiators had been brewing for some time, since they two managed to knock each other out of the 2999 Grand Championship by destroying each others’ ‘Mechs simultaneously.
Parkinson arrived early at the Pit, eschewing the normal limo ride to arrive in the pouring rain in her Grasshopper. Rhamses, true to his fashion, was carried from a hovervan atop a litter carried by four strong men and inside the arena, where his gold-painted Thunderbolt, the Sun God, was waiting. The two did not speak before the match, but the media—in a rare trip out of Solaris City—wasted no time in putting words into each gladiator’s mouth.
The fight itself has been covered by too many news agencies and sporting outlets to mention, but it’s no exaggeration to say that the coup de grace, Parksinson using her Grasshopper’s jump jets to leap into the air and smash the Sun God’s cockpit flat, is an image that was burned into the imagination of an entire generation of fight fans.
As iconic as that image was, however, it was that brutal act that banned Parkinson forever from fighting anywhere on Solaris in a bonded match, and she soon met her end four years later in the wastelands of Antallos.
