Heartbroken ex-Heiress to Victor: “Let Omi Go!”

GALACTIC INSINUATOR – Romantically linked to Victor Steiner-Davion (of the former federated Commonwealth) since the closing years of the FedCom Civil War, Isis Marik reportedly delivered an emotional ultimatum late last night after the Farnsworth Charity Ball. The one-time heiress to the throne of the Free Worlds League told the deposed ex-Archon-Prince - who allegedly remains fixated on Omi Kurita, the deceased daughter of Combine Coordinator Theodore Kurita - to "let her go." Servants and officials close to the two royals confirmed a strong friendship forged between them since the abrupt end of Isis Marik’s engagement to Sun-Tzu Liao. However, since Omi’s death in 3064, Steiner-Davion’s obsession with his lost love is reportedly interfering with the rocky relationship forming between him and Marik.

“News of Omi’s death shattered [Steiner-Davion’s] world at a time when he could not afford the time to grieve properly,” says Doctor Frederick Roy, noted professor of psychology at the Scitico University on Atocongo. “Though it is said he fell into a deep depression regardless—one from which he recovered only through help from Isis Marik—he never allowed himself closure, with much between them left undone and unsaid.”
According to servants close to the former Archon-Prince, an entire chamber of his residence on Tukayyid is now a shrine devoted to the fallen Kurita scion. Bizarre rumors plague Steiner-Davion over his alleged daily visits to this chamber, with many claiming they have heard frantic shouting, sobbing, and even singing coming from within.
Meanwhile, the bond between Steiner-Davion and Isis Marik, who has been his guest since the close of the Civil War, has deepened. Many observers, in fact, have gone so far as to speculate that the illegitimate daughter of Free Worlds Captain-General Thomas Marik had won the place in Victor’s heart once occupied by Omi.
But a recent public spat between the two alleged lovers has heightened an equally growing suspicion that the man who once more claims the mantle of the Com Guard’s Precentor Martial still carries a torch for his lost love, and that his love for her memory now competes with what could have been a new romance between the fallen nobles.
“It is quite possible that their relationship—such as it is—has strained because of guilt,” Doctor Roy told the Insinuator. “After all, despite centuries of distrust and a stated forbiddance of their even being united in matrimony, Victor nonetheless gave his heart to Omi Kurita. Now that a mutual friend has grown close enough to take her place, it is possible that he feels that, to give his heart again to another, would dishonor that memory.”
