Dieudonne[FWL News Service]—Searchers are continuing their search for Flight 610, an airliner that went down in the ocean between St. Therese and the capital of New Bastogne on Dieudonne last night.
Dieudonne Garde-Côtes has a pair of cutters and four aircraft in active search for the aircraft, a TC-80 Skyliner, which disappeared an hour and twenty miniutes into a four hour flight. The spokesman for the Interior minister, Eugenia Cuvier, says, “The searchers have narrowed the area down to a hundred square kilometers, and we are asking the local militia for a couple of their subs to survey the ocean bottom.”
Flight 610, with 104 passengers and a crew of 9, left St. Terese airport in later afternoon and was expected to arrive at New Bastogne around nine PM. At about six PM, a distress call from Flight 610 was sent out, claiming that an explosion had destroyed the engine and they were trying to make a water landing. The Garde-Côtes immediately scramble a rescue team and began searching for the craft.
What is worrisome is the TC-80 is equipped with twelve lifeboats with radio beacons. But as of now, there has been no signal from any of the lifeboats, leading to the very real possibility that the aircraft broke apart upon landing.
The TC-80 Skyliner was purchased from Mujika Aerospace in 3067 and has a spotless maintenance record. The pilot and co-pilot were both experienced in both the aircraft and the flight route. There were no storms or other weather phenomena in the area.
We will keep abreast of this story.
